Well, Dean did tell her that she was going to make sixteen-year-old Sammy's head explode, but she didn't know details. However, even if she did know details, she'd feel rather smug about them rather than embarrassed or awkward for either of them.
Oh, Sammy. That's part of why she wants to spend time with him. She's heard stories about who he was then (now) and she knows all of those things helped to make Sam the person he is (the only person she could fall in love with).
Ruby watches him a moment, debating with herself how honest to be. She doesn't want to make him uncomfortable about the whole 'future girlfriend' thing. Ultimately, it's the way he settles in that makes her mind up. "I asked you here because I miss you," she tells him, twisting a little to the side, a bit closer to him and propping up on one elbow to watch him. "Dean is going to be over the moon, but worried. He's like a PTA helicopter mom." That little bit of humor to her words to soften what comes next. "John is...John, but it all works out okay in the end."
Sammy's head spun around like a record so Dean was telling her the truth. However, he won't be the one to tell her the details under normal circumstances.
He wouldn't imagine any of the stories she heard about him weren't embarrassing because that's what Dean does. She has had such an effect on him, though, that no matter how much she makes him feel embarrassed, he'll still want to spend time with her.
Well, she asked him nicely, didn't she. She gets points for the creativity in it too. She's the first person (girl) to ever pass him a note. He made up his mind minutes before even stepping through her door that he would listen to her. "You miss me? Or you miss...your boyfriend?," he has a hard time getting these words out but it feels only fair to him to know what she means. She swallows when her moment makes her closer to him. "What? How do you know? What's a helicopter mom?" Her humor is lost on him because he can't see how his brother would be thrilled about him leaving. Her attempt to assure him about John is appreciated but it only makes him more puzzled. "What do you mean "it works out"?"
She doesn't really need details. She just needs to know that he's attracted to her.
Oh, there were plenty of embarrassing stories. There were also things that Sam has told her. She likes those stories the best.
He doesn't know it, but notes are kind of a thing with them. If he uses her bathroom, he'll see post-it notes from Sam all over the mirror. If he looks in the journal on the dresser, he'll find love letters (and some smut) from her. She considers his question for several seconds before she answers. "Both. The last time you were here, I told you that sometimes it was hard because you were almost my Sam. Everything I love about him, you already are, so does it matter?"
"You know, always hovering, overprotective." Oh, she's sure Dean wasn't thrilled about him leaving but she also knows that Dean always wants what's best for Sam. "You get to go to college. We all end up here."
Well, that would be considerably better than telling her the details.
Oh, of course there were. Unfortunately for him, Dean knew a lot of his stories or was the only one he could confide in to help him. He's told Ruby only the ones that make him shine in a good light.
He doesn't know what to expect from her either, but the note feels personal. The outcome would be better if he saw the post-its or journal later. He needs to figure out where they stand since he's been questioning it for as much time as he's been here. Right She misses him, but it doesn't feel like the whole story. And it's too long for someone his age and curious mind to go without knowing. Her pause feels too long. "Of course it matters." He doesn't mean to argue against his favor, but it does. "I don't have the memories I should have. I remember when you said I was almost your Sam, but how can I be the same if I don't have the same memories. I don't know anything about future us."
"Well, you're not wrong. But I think, that's what family does." At least he has no reason to see it any other way. Their family looks out for each other, the family business. He seems happy with that bit of news. "I was just thinking about keeping my options open, you know. I didn't know if I'd do it. I guess I got something to look forward to."
She gets to hear about both sides of Sam that way.
He's welcome to explore the room any time he likes. She won't stop him and if he shows interest in doing so, she'll even encourage him. Maybe it's not the whole story. Ruby isn't sure how much to tell him because she doesn't want to overwhelm him and she's not sure where his head is right now in relation to them and her. She pushes herself up into a sitting position, crossing her legs beneath her Indian-style (she's not good at PC). She's still close enough she can almost touch him; she's just at his eye level now. "What do you want to know? I'm an open book, Sam. You just have to read me."
"When you've got a good family, yeah," she's not disagreeing with him. Of course, this is her first experience with a functional (dysfunctional) family in a very long time. His happiness makes her smile softly. She reaches out to ruffle a hand through his hair. "You are going to be so great there."
Since it's her maybe he'll end up being fine with that.
He wouldn't think he's allowed to explore the room because of something called privacy. She could encourage him to though. One thing for sure is that he'd seen bits and pieces of their future when he came in and been curious ever since. Maybe he's old enough to handle the whole story and gonna wanna hear it whether it'll overwhelm him or not. Maybe she should trust his head space will catch up. She somehow makes it so she feels closer to him and he feels his guard go down; ie, his legs slink over the side of the bed again as he scoots back to figure out how to cross his long limbs comfortably. (If it's any consolation, he's from the early 2000s and no one there is PC yet. Humanity is working it.)
He can't complain about the close proximity to her. He even dreamt about it. Last night to be exact. They were facing each other the same way but this time he could hear her words clearly. "How about, how about what's the same about him and me that wasn't the same as before." Is she really an open book? He's not sure what he's supposed to read. (Yet.)
Sorry, it's a sense of duty that he feels to stick up for them. They're the only family he's got. Of course that's not all true: he has his mother here, and Ruby's always been here. He is reminded of that since they're on the subject of family and talking to each other. She shouldn't treat him like a kid though. He won't move away when she reaches to ruffle his hair but his impulse is to reach out to take her hand when it rests on the bed again. "What if I decided to stay here instead?"
She'll give him free rein to snoop at some point. After all, it's his room too--just not yet. Maybe she should trust his headspace will catch up. She will tell him pieces at a time until most of it comes out. She'll withhold the demon pieces because they've had this fight and she doesn't want to go through it a second time. Also, she doesn't think he's ready for that and it would ruin his time here. No one wants that. It's a relief when he relaxes. Ruby refuses to act like anyone except herself, but she vastly prefers it when Sam is comfortable with who she is and how she acts.
It's her absolute favorite when Sam dreams of her. Here's to hoping this moment lives up to his dreams. She tilts her head at his words, a slow, soft, smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth. "You both want to see the best in people no matter how vile they are. You've got this indescribable, infallible hope. You are both giant nerds. I think you might secretly be a 90-year-old grandma, which works for me because I'm very clearly a 90-year-old grandma lesbian. You both light up when you're talking about serial killers." Her voice softens and the expression on her face goes even softer, "and you both look at me like I'm your own personal slice of heaven." He'll figure it out.
She expects no less. He wouldn't be Sam otherwise. She has a hard time seeing him as a kid so it's unlikely she'll treat him like one, at least she'll try not to. He really should trust his instincts because that's a good one as well. She lets him take her hand, her thumb stroking along his palm when he does. Her eyes flicker to their hands then back to Sam's eyes. "I would tell you to think about it and ask you if you were certain then probably get a plaque that declared me a cradle robber," she finishes with a grin.
Okay. So she's more open than he expects. He was not expecting her to essentially call him a grandma and a nerd with a serial killer complex and herself his tasty(?) lesbian lover. He tries holding it together, but his mouth hangs open by the time she finishes speaking about the similarities to his not so distant future self. Half the language and creativity in which she uses it surprises him. He spends the next few seconds just recovering then pulls himself back to reality. "I think I only understood half of that, but I feel as if I understand what you're saying. I mean, you're saying you don't see anything different at all about us. Nothing?" His heads spins like a record.
Good. Because the less he feels like he's being treated as a kid or with kid gloves, the more closer he will want to be with her. Of course his instincts are going to cause him to feel a little doubtful, but he's trying to read the signals she gives him too. It seems pretty clear to him that she isn't batting her eyelashes because something is stuck in them. It's even clearer that her hand didn't suddenly petrify in his with an alien life form saving only her thumb while trying to wriggle free. He gains more confidence because of what she's saying and brings her hand up so his palm can press against hers, his fingers thread between them. "My head hurts thinking about it too much. And you're avoiding the question."
That's a good thing, isn't it? Well...she's not wrong, is she? He is all those things and they're all things that she loves about him. His reaction is cute and she knows that word porn is the way to both of their hearts. She laughs softly at his comment that he only understood half of that and shrugs one shoulder up. "Well, he's got about four inches on you," she teases him a little. "His experiences and memories make him a little different, but you are still him in all the ways that matter. Your inability to write a proof of life program doesn't affect the person you are." That's the first thing that comes to mind because the last weekend they'd spent at their apartment, Sam had sent Dean a blurry, possibly naked, proof of life photo by accident.
It's hard to learn to trust your instincts. Ruby tries to be forthright with her signals and her words. She's never been good at subtle and quiet. He's right; her eyes and eyelashes are fine and she's not trying to wiggle her hand free at all. "Yes, I would be okay if you wanted to stay. We'd have to eat less ice cream than we do now. Vacation and all that. We'd also have to talk to your family about it and you'd have to know what you're giving up and what you're getting by making this place home. At the same time, it might be a moot point. We don't always get to choose whether we stay or not. I'm more stable than a lot of people and I think it's because my door can be opened and I could go back any time I want, but that's a theory, not a fact."
Is his reaction really that cute? He wouldn't notice it because...yes. He thinks she has to love him if she can make those string of words sound like a compliment. Her softer laugh is one thing he likes being the cause of and his smile twitches at one corner of his lips and sticks there. "So that means I'm still growing," he reasons, trying not to think about how weird that is to know. He puzzles over what she means about a proof of lie program the second she mentions it, but in essence he listens to the importance of she is saying. She believes that he's the same in all the ways that matter and that's enough to answer his lingering question behind choosing to stay. "I wanna stay. I always wanted to stay, but I just had to know if you would think it was selfish or not. Now I know maybe it's not," he explains.
It's easier to read the signs she's giving him, but he is listening to the impulse grow in his gut too. For starters, Sam could hold her hand all day if she let him but he knows it's not practical. There's more he can do to tell her what's on his mind. Words only share so much, but he nods at what she tells him and gently squeezes her hand, eyes lighting up. "Well...yeah. I don't think I could handle eating ice cream all the day. Last time, uh, I ate too much I barfed it all up. I can let them know that's what I want. This is like any other place we've been so what's to give up." He scoots a little closer to her.
His reaction really is that cute. She kind of loves being able to make Sam befuddled and speechless at any age. "Yeah," she confirms. Ruby has a hard time determining what she should tell him and what she ought to keep a secret. The tragic things are off the table, but she doesn't see the harm in telling him that he's still growing. He'll figure out soon enough what the proof of life program is. After all, it's not like Dean is going to worry less. "I don't think it's selfish, Sam. Time is paused there. I haven't figured out how it works, but I know it does." She's not sure if this is the time to remind him that he might not be able to stay even if he wants to or not.
"This time I'll try to remind you to eat vegetables," she tells him. The biggest thing she can think that he's giving up is Stanford, but she's pretty sure he doesn't want to hear that list. Ruby shifts, leaning back against the headboard and straightening her legs as he moves closer. "What else do you want to know?" she asks.
If she hasn't already noticed, he's been kind of looking at her in many ways speechless this whole time. Not that she should ever stop! He likes learning who and how she really is (her true self) and making mental notes, journaling it. "It won't be long till I grow that tall. A year tops." Sam has less of a hard time talking to her after they start conversing but also he's not really talking about future him. The simple fact is he doesn't know where or how to start either. Yeah. It's almost a requirement that he check in with Dean so he'll add two and two together soon. "Yeah, I remember you told me that before. I guess it would be a plus. And I shouldn't probably wonder how that works so much. I still can't shake the feeling it is selfish." It's not the right time to remind him because he so clearly wants to tell himself he can stay.
"I don't want to be my mom either," he-- it just slips out. Stanford isn't even on his radar either way because the acceptance letter has not reached him yet. She is on his radar though and he isn't any different than other teenage boys that have considered following a girl instead of his college options. Sam watches her lean back against the headboard and wonders why before the hint hits him. It's hardly subtle at all but he thinks she wants him to make the first move. "Well, you said I'm the same now. So do you feel the same about me as you feel about him," he asks, but the signs are all there so he grows even closer to initiate a kiss if she will allow.
She might have noticed a little. She might like that look. He needs to hold onto that thought. One of her favorite things about Her Sam is that he knows exactly who she is and he loves her because of it. This Sam will get there and Ruby will be here when he does. "For now, enjoy being shorter than I am in my heels," she smirks at him. Yes, she knows he likes it when she wears those heels. "It works. That's all that matters." For the moment, he can be selfish. No one is going to stop him or make him go home.
Ruby bites the tip of her tongue. "Ice cream it is." She doesn't want to be his mom either. She'll try not to let Stanford slip though, in the scheme of things, it's probably not that big of a deal if he knows where he goes to college. She did mention that she's not subtle at all. A wicked grin spreads over her lips at his question and the way he leans in. His lips touch hers and she reaches out to grab a handful of his tee-shirt and pull him closer to her.
Well, he'll hold onto the thought for as long as he's able. Guaranteed he will remember later if he can't right now. She might make a thought or two slip away whenever she looks at him the same way she does to a fresh plate of fries. It's how her eyes light up, how her lip twitches into that cat ate the canary smirk that do the trick. "Why? I like you in your heels," he tells her, another thing he blurts out before thinking twice. "Doesn't make it any less weird. But okay, I'll let it go. I think it's all that matters too." Of course he's not just talking about how it works.
Ice cream is a concession he can get behind. "Deal! But we can do banana splits." The banana part is healthy, for one. And it's no secret that his favorite botanical berry is the yellow fruit. It'd be his one choice if it was ever the only thing he could eat. To be fair he his mother is here and he's hoping for more than being friends with Ruby. It wouldn't be the worst thing if he knew where he was headed back home but chances are later (when he thinks he's staying) he'll decide to attend the only college in Itinere, look at a trade. She hasn't acted subtle from day one either. Maybe that's how he can guess at all. Her fingers grab enough of his shirt that he brushes up right against her and gives up a muffled sound, but his eyes close fully encouraged to kiss her deeper than what his original intention was. He'll pause for a moment and stroke her cheek and a few strands of her hair behind her ear when they part.
His outburst gets another soft laugh out of her. “Exactly why I wear them.
I’ll put them on later.” He can just think about that one for a little
while. It’ll give him something to focus on besides the oddness of
timelines in Itinere.
He’s definitely going to get more than friends with Ruby and banana splits
are forgotten once he kisses her. She softens, giving him a look that is
more adoring than sexy when he tucks her hair behind her ear. He doesn’t
quite kiss like her Sam (yet) and he doesn’t quite smell or feel like him
but he still makes her heart flutter a little and her stomach flip-flop.
They’re enough the same person that she has to remind herself to slow down
and take it easy with him.
She scratches her nails lightly along his scalp and down his neck, her eyes
still on him and she arches up a little and kisses him again. “That’s how I
feel about you,” she murmurs against his mouth. He might as well get used
to the idea that she’s more comfortable with emotion in action than in
words.
Her laughter doesn't make him feel self conscious for being honest but his cheeks turn red. "Okay, I can do later." He will think about that one for a while. He likes the red heels she had on once when he was sixteen. Red is a color that draws out desire and the red heels made him think of her as a blonde Dorthy.
Ice cream slips to the back of his mind when they're kissing too. He's focused on the way he kisses her, soft and sweet (eager but not too sloppy), then is all smiles when he sees she doesn't mind him fixing her hair. He's encouraged that her look means he is okay staying in her space. He can work on his kissing technique with her and get better if that counts for anything. She's the first girl he's kissed in awhile and, maybe he's not the same person, but she makes his heart beat faster in the same rhythm as always. His idly brushes her skin while he stalls for his next move.
More kissing works. Definitely. He pushes his lips on to hers again after she kisses him, though the nails she runs along his hair follicles and neck cause him to let go of air. It's harder for him to keep his eyes on her when his eyes want to shut in the moment and they flutter in an attempt to stay on her. "What? You feel you want me?" There's a lot of words to describe what she did but his vocabulary currently is as short as his breath. He can get used to a lot of things as long as she's comfortable with him wanting to share his emotions in words before actions. "I feel I love you too," he whispers back.
Good. Her point wasn't to make him feel self-conscious; the point was to give him something sexy to think about. She still has those red heels.
The soft and sweet kiss helps her focus on not pushing him too fast. She absolutely doesn't mind him fixing her hair. It's something that Her Sam does as well and she wouldn't let him move out of her space, but she's glad he chooses to stay there on his own. He's a good kisser; he just kisses a little differently. She recognizes that rhythm and it makes him feel more like hers.
That breathlessness is why she runs her nails along his skin and the way his eyes flutter makes her tingle a little. Her smile is one of those smug, pleased smiles (because she is very pleased with his reaction right now). She hums a little (almost a purr) at his first comment. "That is exactly how I feel," she assures him. Of course, then he whispers those words and everything in her melts. "Nerd," she whispers to him, then reminds herself that he's not quite Her Sam and he might need a little more than that. She leans in to nuzzle the hollow beneath his ear. "Me too, Samuel Winchester. Me too."
Of course she's all he can think about when he's in Itinere. He has no idea that she is anything other than a hunter and a female at that so his sweet kisses and hand carefully sweeping her hair back is his way of trying to be tender with her. Still, he's a virgin "adult" teenage boy, and the sense of urgency to match her aggressiveness grows like a flame wanting out of his own body. He kisses her only in the way he thinks she will like it. She's leading him a little and it makes her more like his too.
He's catching his breath after that stunt, but her smugness is contagious that he flashes his teeth at her. Her purr doesn't make him think of a cat but rather of a humming bird and he's a bit of a nerd for bird watching and he doesn't take his eyes off her. Those six, seven words, including nerd, could be the human version of a mating call because he likes it when he hear them. Of course, he still doesn't get why she calls him nerd, but she's the only one he can let get away with it. "It's Sam," he corrects her, gently, because unlike Her Sam, it still bugs him to be called something so old fashioned. He tilts his head away, ticklish when she nuzzles his ear, but giving her more access. "So what now? Does this mean...I should get a condom?"
That's exactly how she likes it. As for the part about her being a hunter and human...if, he stays, she'll have to eventually tell him the truth. Right now, he is the only thing on her mind. She can't help that sense of urgency; the more they kiss, the more focused and urgent she becomes. She also leads without thinking much about it. She goes so far as to guide Sam's hands to the places she'd like them to be.
There's a lot more 'stunts' where that one came from. She's got lots to teach him. She grins wickedly at his reminder to call him Sam but doesn't say anything. Maybe she'll abide by it. Maybe she won't. When he bares his neck, giving her more access, she lightly bites his neck then starts sucking at the skin, only pulling away at his question. She bites her bottom lip around a smile.
"I'm on birth control and clean. You should relax and enjoy the ride," she tells him, hands sliding up underneath his shirt, her lips returning to his neck.
The truth would be hard for him to swallow, but if it came to pass, it wouldn't be the first time he'd change his mind about the difference of human and another species. However, right now, the lie he has somehow built his head around does her move favors. He can't help let her lead him to be or do certain things to her to start with then slowly do them on his own for himself. He goes as far as to let his hands help with the clothes when they come off.
Vanilla stunts are more than enough, but if she wants to give him more of this wild side of hers, he won't bring himself to stop her. Well, he's got a lot to learn. Already this is far from the movies or dreams he's had the perfect girl, only better. Yesterday, the grin on her face would have embarrassed him, but right now, he sees it differently-- it looks like she is into it, or something, and he chooses to believe she got the message. It's just Sam. It's the first time he's had a girl suck on his neck, and he can't say he hates it, with Ruby it feels like magic and he keeps his head there, until she pulls away and he is drawn to follow her with his gaze. He blinks, the reason being why she bites her lip.
"That doesn't always wo--" He starts to protest, but she is convincing and confident enough in what she does that the facts just float away. Her lips are notably soft against his skin, but his shirt starts to feel like a bundled up scarf by the time it reaches his armpits...it's a dilemma which he chooses to respond to only after her lips have had time to linger. At some point, he helps her hands by pulling off his shirt.
When he wakes up after the coitus, it's because something in his hair stirs him awake. Snakes? No. The wider awake he gets, the more he can remember he hasn't been to a summer camp in years. Motel roaches are not that big either. At some point he's gotten used to one or two crawling on him. Flashback images of last night start to come back--the hands over skin, clothes tossed to the floor, etc. It's no time at all that he remembers he came into Ruby's room and everything that followed. He turns on his side to blink into his sights one Ruby reading something with a dramatized and scandalous cover. "Good morning," he opens with, opting to give a sleepy smile her way.
Good. She's all about building his confidence and teaching him to trust his instincts. She thinks both of those things will help later in his life. She's also learned that he can't take memories with him from Itinere, but he does take emotions and feelings. That's enough.
Do hickies still count as vanilla? Or wearing high heels and nothing else? Honestly, that's probably as wild as she'll get with him. Well, she's into him so he's not totally wrong. He'll have a hicky (or two) on his neck tomorrow to remind him of that magic.
Actually, she doesn't know the statistics of birth control, nor does she care. She is glad that he lets it go and focuses on the moment. It's a big moment and she's going to make sure it's memorable. Tomorrow night he'll get candles and flowers. She wasn't really prepared for tonight, but she's not going to complain.
Just Ruby's fingers and she'd hope it's a lot more enjoyable than snakes or roaches. Everything Ruby reads has a dramatic, scandalous cover. It's her favorite kind of book. When he says good morning, her lips curve into a smug sort of smile as she sets aside the book on the nightstand and leans over to press a kiss to his temple. "Morning, Puppy," she whispers, sliding down into the bed a little to snuggle up next to him.
Feelings will always stay with him for sure. How else can you explain why he can't remember the girl who he gave his virginity to? It has nothing to do with the last time he was at soccer camp and being hit by the ball or believing for so long that is why he couldn't place the girl's name anymore. When it clicks that it was Ruby all along, he'll have the same feeling as he has when they're done.
Hickies do if that's all there is to it, but she's being slightly aggressive in making her mark on him that, yeah, it's hard to call it vanilla. Should we even discuss how red heels and nothing else is like something out of his wildest dreams? Honestly, that would do it. He's twisted right around her finger as the feeling is mutual. Most likely there won't be a shirt able to cover the hickies nor will he think of any reason to cover them. Dean taught him sex is nothing to be assumed of by example.
Neither does he, beyond what educators say. Though nothing sounds like it works when educators back abstinence. Well, one thing going for them at least is that he can trust that Ruby would knows it works or not. Anything else is beside the point. It's memorable because it's with her. He's crushed on her since he was twelve. Flowers and candles missing aren't what make the night or in this case don't, what makes it is Ruby. In all honesty, he wasn't prepared either.
Which is why he won't tell her what he was thinking her fingers were initially. Why sour the mood? Now that he can see it's just her, nothing about her fingers suggest anything other than a loving gesture if not in a way a nice head massage. He can't say her book choices are something he'd read, but he also can't say he isn't the least bit curious about what she's reading. The kiss to his temple is good and all, yet he smiles in part only she's spoiled him last night. Where was the real kiss? He puzzles over it for a minute before softly pecking her lips, first. "Sam," he reminds her, but is more than a sucker to puff up his chest or to turn more towards her. "How long were you up?"
It really isn't explainable any other way. Ruby will be happy to know she makes such a lasting impression on him even when he really can't remember details of her.
Well, she is slightly aggressive about the idea of leaving her mark on him. She does enjoy being part of Sam's wildest dreams. Ruby isn't thinking that far; it'll occur to her later that he might want to cover the hickies up in front of his parents. Right now, part of the point is to make sure they're visible. There's very little that Ruby is ashamed of. Sex with Sam certainly isn't one of those few things. Yeah, it might things easier for them both, but in the long run, she refuses to hide their relationship.
The sex education system is stupid. Though, Ruby doesn't know that. She does know how repressed humans were in her time though. It's a bit embarrassing that they haven't made much progress. Ruby isn't telling the whole truth about her ability to get pregnant, but it's not something he needs to know right now. All he needs to know is that he doesn't need to worry about it. He's got such good answers to situations like that. She hopes that he feels the same way when he's Her Sam.
It's meant as a loving gesture anyway. Oh, he'll come to like her book choices at least in some regard. He's free to thumb through the books in the bookshelf. He'll find passages highlighted and pages dog-earred for his benefit. In response to the way he corrects her addressing of him, she kisses him on the mouth again, a little fuller than his kiss. "Not long," she assures him, sliding down underneath the covers and tangling her arms and legs up with his.
She should know the effect she has on him by now since it's not too different than the one she has on Her Sam, but there's something that can bee said about finding out together.
Of course he wouldn't want parents to see them as he can't predict how either of them they will react. Mary most of all. John would be a little to guess if he were currently able to use a brain cell. At the same time, that's neither here or now. Sam never fell for the impression that feeling good having sex is letting in the dark side, but like the dark side, what she does to him builds in him and fills him with an energy he needs to release.
If there's anything he could remotely answer if she asked, he can only guess that she remotely makes him feel the same way because she is a very special lady.
Sorry, his brain cells are slower in the AM, just ask anybody that knows him. Valentines is right around the corner and he may surprise her with a book cover. However, her book choices have helped get him in the mood to try new things before. She'll find that it won't be hard to catch him flipping through some of the dog-eared pages if left to his own devices for a while. He can't expect that she would kiss him for something as simple as how he corrects her, but neither can he think of a reason why she shouldn't. He casts a glance to the door, thinking maybe this is where he asks her to breakfast next. But the second she tangles herself up next to him the thought falls away.
"Okay." He breathes in then out, letting any inclination to get up sink into the mattress. A minute later he wraps his arms around to have her closer. He isn't sure whose heartbeat he hears but the rhythm gets steadily louder.
Oh, she has a very good idea, but she likes to see the evidence of her effect on him anyway.
Ruby is guessing that neither of Sam's parents will react well, but they've had this fight before and she doesn't think anyone else wants to have it again. He's eighteen and no one wants to ruin his visit here. Ruby could tell the American sex education system that cloaking anything in mystery and forbidding it makes it all the more appealing, but no one will listen. Besides, she's certain that just like the dark side, people are afraid of sex because it's a form of power. Sam is so much smarter than Anakin (yes, the boys have made Ruby watch those movies).
She knows and she likes morning!Sam. His perusing of her bookshelves won't raise any eyebrows or teasing from her and he'll most likely be left to his own devices occasionally. She likes to take long baths and trips to the bookstore not to mention picking up fries at the diner. She'll let him look then ask if he's found anything he likes. They can discuss his findings at length. She knows how he likes to study.
She's actually kissing him to shut him up rather than as a reward for correcting her, but he'll figure that out as he gets older. Ruby is accustomed to a morning routine that involves making it a good morning before they have breakfast. She'd be very upset if that inclination hadn't fled with that first kiss. Oh, it's his heartbeat, but he doesn't have to know that. They'll get to breakfast eventually.
It's not soon enough for Dean though. As far as timing goes, Dean's isn't bad, but Sam is still breathless and goofy when Ruby first hears Dean yell "Sammy! Breakfast!" She groans and pushes herself out of bed, grabbing Sam's shirt from the floor and tossing it on just in time for Dean to burst in
"Ruby! Have you---" Dean stops, eyes going to Sam naked in her (their) bed. His gaze goes to Ruby standing defiant with her arms crossed over her chest. He looks back to Sam. "Breakfast is getting cold. Get dressed and come eat," he says, his voice quieter than it was a few minutes ago.

Date: 2020-01-20 08:06 pm (UTC)Oh, Sammy.

Date: 2020-01-20 09:35 pm (UTC)He wouldn't imagine any of the stories she heard about him weren't embarrassing because that's what Dean does.

Date: 2020-01-21 02:46 am (UTC)Oh, there were plenty of embarrassing stories.
We all end up here."
no subject
Date: 2020-01-21 03:40 am (UTC)Oh, of course there were.

Date: 2020-01-22 12:05 am (UTC)He's welcome to explore the room any time he likes.
"You are going to be so great there."
no subject
Date: 2020-01-22 03:51 am (UTC)He wouldn't think he's allowed to explore the room because of something called privacy.

Date: 2020-01-23 02:25 am (UTC)It's her absolute favorite when Sam dreams of her.
"I would tell you to think about it and ask you if you were certain then probably get a plaque that declared me a cradle robber," she finishes with a grin.
no subject
Date: 2020-01-23 03:48 am (UTC)Good. And you're avoiding the question."
no subject
Date: 2020-01-24 02:05 am (UTC)It's hard to learn to trust your instincts. I'm more stable than a lot of people and I think it's because my door can be opened and I could go back any time I want, but that's a theory, not a fact."
no subject
Date: 2020-01-24 05:03 am (UTC)It's easier to read the signs she's giving him, but he is listening to the impulse grow in his gut too.

Date: 2020-01-25 01:39 am (UTC)"This time I'll try to remind you to eat vegetables," she tells him. The biggest thing she can think that he's giving up is Stanford, but she's pretty sure he doesn't want to hear that list. Ruby shifts, leaning back against the headboard and straightening her legs as he moves closer. "What else do you want to know?" she asks.
no subject
Date: 2020-01-25 03:30 am (UTC)"I don't want to be my mom either," he-- it just slips out. So do you feel the same about me as you feel about him," he asks, but the signs are all there so he grows even closer to initiate a kiss if she will allow.
no subject
Date: 2020-01-25 04:17 am (UTC)Ruby bites the tip of her tongue.

Date: 2020-01-25 05:27 am (UTC)Ice cream is a concession he can get behind.

Date: 2020-01-25 06:37 pm (UTC)His outburst gets another soft laugh out of her. “Exactly why I wear them. I’ll put them on later.” He can just think about that one for a little while. It’ll give him something to focus on besides the oddness of timelines in Itinere.
He’s definitely going to get more than friends with Ruby and banana splits are forgotten once he kisses her. She softens, giving him a look that is more adoring than sexy when he tucks her hair behind her ear. He doesn’t quite kiss like her Sam (yet) and he doesn’t quite smell or feel like him but he still makes her heart flutter a little and her stomach flip-flop. They’re enough the same person that she has to remind herself to slow down and take it easy with him.
She scratches her nails lightly along his scalp and down his neck, her eyes still on him and she arches up a little and kisses him again. “That’s how I feel about you,” she murmurs against his mouth. He might as well get used to the idea that she’s more comfortable with emotion in action than in words.

Date: 2020-01-27 03:39 am (UTC)Ice cream slips to the back of his mind when they're kissing too.

Date: 2020-01-28 12:34 am (UTC)The soft and sweet kiss helps her focus on not pushing him too fast.
Me too."

Date: 2020-01-30 11:24 pm (UTC)virgin"adult" teenage boy, and the sense of urgency to match her aggressiveness grows like a flame wanting out of his own body. Does this mean...I should get a condom?"
no subject
Date: 2020-01-31 02:04 am (UTC)That's exactly how she likes it.

Date: 2020-01-31 10:54 pm (UTC)Vanilla stunts are more than enough, but if she wants to give him more of this wild side of hers, he won't bring himself to stop her.

Date: 2020-02-01 05:03 am (UTC)Do hickies still count as vanilla?
"Morning, Puppy," she whispers, sliding down into the bed a little to snuggle up next to him.
no subject
Date: 2020-02-01 11:41 am (UTC)Hickies do if that's all there is to it, but she's being slightly aggressive in making her mark on him that, yeah, it's hard to call it vanilla.
"How long were you up?"
no subject
Date: 2020-02-04 12:55 am (UTC)Well, she is slightly aggressive about the idea of leaving her mark on him.

Date: 2020-02-04 10:52 pm (UTC)Of course he wouldn't want parents to see them as he can't predict how either of them they will react.

Date: 2020-02-05 02:05 am (UTC)Ruby is guessing that neither of Sam's parents will react well, but they've had this fight before and she doesn't think anyone else wants to have it again. He's eighteen and no one wants to ruin his visit here. Ruby could tell the American sex education system that cloaking anything in mystery and forbidding it makes it all the more appealing, but no one will listen.
